The Light is on, and the poet is home
calls from a lighted house
and the voice I listen for
softens and is changed
In this new collection, acclaimed poet Jeanne Lohmann turns to family themes. Here are poems about ancestors, parents and siblings, her youth, marriage and widowhood, aging. Here, too, are journeys inner and outer, poems of praise, invented stories and characters, gratitude to poets whose work informs her own. These poems invite us into her life, as into a lighted house.
Jeanne Lohmanns poems have appeared in many literary magazines and anthologies. She is a graduate of the creative writing program at San Francisco State University. She lives and writes in Olympia, Washington. This is her eighth poetry collection.
