Answers for Alcoholics

The statistics on alcoholism are staggering and sobering. Over 100,000 people die from alcoholism every year, making it the third deadliest disease in the United States. And yet, many people do not know what alcoholism really is. And many drinkers do not know whether or not they're at risk, because they don't know how alcoholism is defined.

This book is full of answers. Plainspoken, in-your-face friendly, and challenging, Am I? Am I Not? An Alcoholic defines the problem of alcoholism both societally and personally. And it gives the reader three no-nonsense tests for determining whether one is, or is not, an alcoholic. The test are deceptively simple and iron-clad: no cheating allowed.

In addition to describing the problem in no uncertain terms, this book also gives the good news. The disease of alcoholism is detectable and treatable. You can recover. That too is a challenge, but it is doable. This book shows how it can be done.

Finally, the book is very openly a tribute to the success of Alcoholics Anonymous. The author outlines the methodology of AA and encourages anyone with the disease to seek AA's help. Thanks to AA, many lives have been saved, and the salvation is available to anyone who's ready to acknowledge the problem and seek help.

"Am I? Am I Not? An Alcoholic is no-nonsense like no other book I know. The tests are realistic, and Chace's insight into the results is priceless. I laughed and cried. This book is delicious."
